Replying from the Inbox
Your reply goes out through the same compliance checks as every automated message REHL sends. It is worth knowing what your reply does and, just as importantly, what it does not.
Send it
- Open the thread. Type into the reply box, or click the suggested reply and edit it.
- For email, set a subject. Texts have no subject.
- Hit Send. REHL runs the compliance checks and dispatches it.
What gets checked first
Your brokerage's subscription status, then consent, the suppression list, and quiet hours, in that order. A manual reply is outreach and gets the same treatment as an automated one. A blocked reply still writes a message row marked failed rather than vanishing, but the Inbox does not currently show you why on that row. If a reply looks like it never reached the person, check consent, the suppression list, and quiet hours yourself, or ask support to pull the reason from the message record.
- No lead on the thread means no consent record, so the send is refused. Use Add as Lead first, or just reply: if a lead with a matching email or phone already exists, REHL attaches it and the send goes through.
- Outside quiet hours, the reply is not sent and not queued. Resend once the window opens.
- On the suppression list, it is refused. That is what an opt-out means.
What your reply does not do
This one catches people out. Replying does not move the lead's temperature, does not change their Cultivate cadence, and does not ring your notification bell. Those things are real, but they all fire on THEIR message to you, not yours to them.
So when a lead emails you back through a connected Gmail, their score goes up, Cultivate reads the reply and adapts, and your bell lights. Your answer is what your job looks like, but it is their behaviour that the score is measuring.
Inbound texts are the exception worth knowing: they arrive in your Inbox and ring your bell, but they do not currently move the score the way an inbound email does. The one exception to that exception is a STOP reply, which does cool the score, since that is the person opting out rather than a conversation signal.
